Aim of the project is the development of composite material out of multiwalled carbo nano tubes (MWNT), light metals and alloys (Mg, Al, Ti).

One advantage of the composite material in comparison to usual alloys is the higher mechanical strength. On the other side the input of these MWNT's will lead to additional functions on the thermical, vibratoric and tribologic side which are not achieveable with the basic material.

The new material shall give a considerable advantage in many applications due to the anticipated reduction in weight, improved dampering facilities, smaller frictional losses and a significantly upgraded thermal conductivity.
